Special Ministers of Holy Communion

Holy Eucharist The parish is blessed with numerous dedicated parishioners who perform the invaluable service of bringing Holy Communion to the sick of the Parish and assisting the Priest at Mass. The Minister is also an important link between the sick and the Parish Priest, without whom many sick would not be able to receive Holy Communion on a regular basis.

Where Special Ministers asssist the Priest with the distribution of Holy Communion during Mass, the Special Ministers take it in turn to assist at any particular Mass.

Care is taken, as far as possible, to ensure that Special Ministers represent a fair cross-section of the Parish as regards class, ethnic origin and sex. Since proper preparatin of Special Ministers is essential, this parish trains the candidates in both spiritual and practical matters.

The selection of people to be Special Ministers of Holy Communion is primarily the responsibility of the Parish Priest. The person who is appointed should distinguish themselves by striving to live the life in all its aspects and in particular by having a special devotion to the Blessed Sacrament - "Let him strive to be worthy of this great office; let him cultivate devotion to the Holy Eucharist..." (Immensae Caritatis).
